Joey.. you need help with saltwater. Take your time do some research and try to think critically. I know you see everybody telling you the clown trigger is a no go. You will also have a problem when the anemones wander around the tank stinging all your corals. This isn’t freshwater, corals are very finicky. You need to watch nitrate phosphate Alk Cal and Mag. Watch BRS. Watch BRS. WATCH BULK REEF SUPPLY.

Hopefully the clown leaves the crabs alone I have feeling he will get them eventually. And angels will pick at some corals they eat them in the wild

take away the third stone from left on the top on the frontreef , it will open up the reef so you can see behind it - or maybe all three stones from the left

The salt is looking good. I do love me some clowns. Nice choice on going salt which I didn’t care so much but it’s growing on me.

The green star polyps will over take everything. Keep it isolated if you want other corals. Just my 2c

Joey I really recommend isolating the gsp to its own island. As it grows/encrusts over all the main structure it will certainly choke out/smother other corals you may like to have on the structure later

How much work and research do you do before choosing which korals to have and where to place them? :O Just started a salt water tank myself and want to know how detaol oriented i need to be :/
MILO SYKO4 ժամ առաջ
I’ve learned from mostly experience, if something isn’t happy then you should move it higher or lower and see how it reacts to the new spot. Honestly though if your light is good enough coral should be happy anywhere you place them. Highly recommend staying away from sps as they are very sensitive to change. Anemones are awesome and sometimes pretty hardy, don’t touch them much and let them move to a spot they like. The only other consideration I would think about is if the corals are close enough to start stinging each other.
Jamie4 ժամ առաջ
Really depends on the person. Someone with less experience would do significantly more research than one who has been keeping corals for decades. If you're planning on keeping corals or any fish for that matter, I wouldn't concern yourself with thinking how detail-oriented you need to be, but how much you are willing to put your mind into keeping an animal. Generally, corals are known to be hard to keep, and even then, different types of corals have varying difficulty. However, it's far better to be overprepared rather than underprepared and you will always grow with more experience :)

dendrophyllia and sun corals would look awesome and would be great for the lower light areas of the tank. otherwise it's mostly mushrooms and star polyps in those areas, and those will take over very quickly

Joey, if you can find one or more somewhere, check into the clown coris wrasse. They look so cool and I don’t see many people with them in their tanks.

Are you going to manually dose or automated setup
MILO SYKO4 ժամ առաջ
With the large water volume and small amount of corals, IMO I would say dosing is not needed on this tank.

If you have anemones all over your tank then your going to be limited to the corals that you will be able to get because your anemones will constantly be stinging your corals and you will not have a good time
